Query Email that got me representation with Beck Literary Agency (This is also the Query Letter include it as a word document **not just the email** so it can be forwarded to other parties, professionally) Hi Sade, My name is Kalista Neith and I hope this email finds you well. My author wifey Luna Laurier spoke very highly of your agency and after perusing Beck Literary Agency's website I read you have a high interest in representing BIPOC characters and authors. This is near and dear to my heart as well as I feel representation is so important in the book space. I am seeking representation for the foreign rights of my novel INVOKING THE BLOOD. It is a BIPOC, #ownvoices, new adult, dark fantasy romance, written in a third person dual POV, and complete at 130,000 words. Invoking the Blood is an enemies to lovers in a dark fantasy setting with Hades x Persephone vibes and vampires. This is the first book in a trilogy, however each book has a satisfying conclusion and HEA. What could happen in fifteen minutes? Faye agreed to her sister’s brilliant idea to sneak into the Hunter’s Moon ball. A night the vampires in attendance held sacred, lusting under the eerie glow of the blood red moon. Faye was no vampire. She wasn’t even a race that possessed magic. Her ceremony failed, marking her an Anarian. A mortal without magic. After a run in with the Shadow Prince, Faye begins dreaming of him. His yearnful gaze leaves her feeling cherished after she wakes. A pleasant daydream, since men like him didn’t exist. Not for women like her. But as days pass and the dreams intensify, the Shadow Prince comes for her. His gaze filled with the same yearning he held for her during their shared dreams. Until he realizes she’s an Anarian. Abducted and confined in his home in Hell, Faye is left only with his promise to release her after he breaks the tie binding his life to hers. But with each heated exchange she can almost see the man that longed for her in her dreams. The one who cherished her and tempted her heart. Invoking the Blood will resonate with fans of King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair and From Blood and Ash Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Growing up reading, like many of us did, I never saw myself as the main character. They were something I could never be. The main characters had different eyes, and hair, and skin color. I write for the younger me’s so they can see themselves in stories and know they are worthy of love, fate, and magic. I am very active on TikTok and Instagram with a combined following of more than 15,000 readers. I have sold $44,117.09 on my online store (www.kalistaneith.com) since Invoking the Blood’s release in Aug 2022. I have sold more than 9000 physical books and 8000 digital downloads during this time. I have a total of 4.4 million page reads on Kindle unlimited. Invoking the Blood and A Trial of Lace and Bone were featured in a Luna & Lore box (US based) run of 600 books. I recently ran a successful Kickstarter for Invoking the Blood totaling over $36k and another $12k on backend add-ons and late pledges. I deeply appreciate your time and consideration. I have listed my socials and website below. I would be more than happy to provide any other information or clarification you need. I would also be able to provide summaries of book 2, A Trial of Lace and Bone as well as book 3, The Queen of Chaos and Darkness if needed. I have included the first five pages of Invoking the Blood’s PDF and can provide a full manuscript if you think my series would be a good fit with your agency. Thank you again and I would be honored to join your agency. Invoking the Blood Summary (inlcuded with the email to Becks Literary Agency) Invoking the Blood is an enemies to lovers in a dark fantasy setting with Hades x Persephone vibes and vampires. This is the first book in a trilogy, however each book has a satisfying conclusion and HEA. Invoking the Blood follows Faye Alexander, a non-magical woman, who sneaks into The Hunter's Moon Ball, which is a night held sacred by vampires. After falling into Rune Sacarlay, a Pure Blood vampire and the Shadow Prince, she immediately flees but begins dreaming of him. Rune welcomes the shared dreams until his seer informs him, he is fate-tied to Faye. The only race in the five realms gifted with fated mates are the Familiar, and when one mate dies the other immediately follows. Desperate to find and protect his mate, Rune bargains with the Familiar King to locate Faye but becomes outraged when he learns his fated queen is a mortal peasant. During Faye's kidnapping, her powers flare, firing under duress, and wings burst from her back. The ordeal exhausts Faye and she slips into unconsciousness as her wings fade away. Faye is abducted and confined to Rune's castle in Hell with no hope of escape. The Shadow Prince believes the fated-tie is a spell meant to bless him with her mortality, allowing her inevitable death to claim his immortal soul. Faye disagrees with his assumption and believes they are truly fate-tied. Faye struggles to reignite the way Rune cherished her during their shared dreams, and ultimately appeals to his bloodlust, the Ra'Voshnik, who is a separate entity residing within Rune. Hesitant but unable to locate the spell binding their lives together, Rune gives into his soul shaking attraction only to have an eight-hundred year old blood debt stand between himself and Faye. A blood debt is owed to Rune's older brother Alister—the life of Rune's beloved in exchange for Alister's mortal wife, who Rune inadvertently turned into a vampire and drove mad. Rune finds a loophole in the formality of the blood debt. He will announce himself as Faye's whore, surrendering his title, rank, and social standing. Faye disagrees with Rune's plan and forms her court, with the help of his seer, unbeknownst to Rune. On the day of the announcement before the High Council, Faye names Rune her consort, allowing Alister to attack her. Faye's plan doesn't go as she'd hoped and Alister attempts to drown her in a coffin. Her wings flare, freeing her from her wooden prison and she stabs Alister with an enchanted dagger meant to knock him unconscious without any long-term harm, fulfilling the blood debt. Faye and Rune leave the ceremony as Queen and Consort, ending book one.
